“It's been almost 1 month since our wedding and as I look back over the photos from Callan, it takes me back to that magical day instantly.
With his candid, relaxed approach (nothing staged or cheesy here!), exceptional technical skills that know how to work with all kinds of natural outdoor lighting (we experienced 4 seasons in 30mins for our ceremony starting with rain), and an incredible artistic eye..... Cal captured the essence and movement of our day to perfection. Telling a story from start to end; each photograph bursts with joy, happiness, anticipation, love, fun and laughter.
I discovered Cal through my cousin (a professional photographer for 30yrs but in fashion/commerical sector). I reached out to him for a recommendation, asking "Who is the BEST wedding photographer you know?". His response was fast and direct "If you can get him, Callan Robison". I jumped onto Cal's instagram and immediately loved his style; very classic with a focus on black & white photography... to me it is so timeless and elegant. I also loved his use of lighting, capturing sunset moments between couples so romantically. His work stood apart from the rest...it had a certain je ne sais quoi!
I reached out to Cal, his response was very prompt and friendly. I liked how genuine, relaxed yet very professional and clearly experienced he was. We discussed options/pricing and locked Cal in soon after, opting for the photo album upgrade being a sucker for a good coffee table book!
We had done our research and explored a few other options before discovering Cal. I recommend doing this so you can make an informed decision that works for you. By the time we connected with Cal the decision was easy to make, and gut instincts knew he was our guy!
Cal also knows lots of esteemed suppliers in the industry and he was more than willing to offer recommendations for florals, hair & make-up, entertainment etc. When planning a wedding it can be reassuring to know the suppliers you might be considering have a good reputation with others in the industry.
About 2 weeks out from the wedding we had a video call with Cal which was a nice relaxed way to 'more formally' meet and put faces to names ahead of the big day. By the time Cal arrived onsite at Krinklewood, I felt like I already knew him and it was such a pleasure to finally meet, give him a big hug hello and welcome him to the celebrations.
On the day, Cal and his 2nd shooter (Damon) felt like friends. Honestly, it can feel awkward / intimidating having cameras and eyes on you all day, but we were just in our own world. The guys were so discreet, allowing us to mingle with family and friends naturally and enjoy the moments rather than rushing us away for portraits immediately and missing so many precious moments with loved ones. Cal really considers all of this, and worked with us rather than dictating to us. When we did go off for portraits with the bridal party we spent most of the time laughing with Cal and Damon. So much fun. And the pics show it. I smile as I type this now remembering our poolside shoot. Some I have shared here in my review.
Within a week Cal shared a link to some of his favourite edits and WOW. He blew our minds. He delivered well beyond any expectations we had. A couple of weeks later we had the full album and video link to music from our wedding day.
It's no wonder Cal was awarded Top 25 Wedding Photographers, Australia & NZ. He is an exceptional talent and a true professional. I can't recommend him highly enough to any couples looking to book a photographer to capture their special day.”
